Spanish Chantilly Lace Mantilla Wedding Veils

Movie actress Grace Kelly will remain one of the most famous brides of all time. Her marriage to Prince Rainier III in Monaco in 1956 is still remembered to this day. Academy Award-winning designer Helen Rose created Kelly's gown and was constructed by the MGM wardrobe department as Helen Rose had also created previous costumes for Kelly in a number of her movies. In style and detail the dress was a bell-shaped skirt of ivory peau de soie supported by three petticoats. The dress featured a high-necked bodice of Brussels lace which was re-embroidered so the seams of the lace would be invisible. Her gown featured a delicate rose point lace, which is a type of nineteenth-century Brussels needle lace which featured elaborate floral motifs. This lace formed the bodice and appeared seamless as the lace motifs were detached from their original location and pieced together to follow the shaping of the dress.
