Melania Knauss, Slovenian super-model choose a Galliano wedding gown for her wedding that weighed nearly 50 pounds. It was the first time that a bride was the cover model for Vogue. Melania's Galliano designed gown made headlines as it required over 28 seamstresses, and 1000 hours of work, including 550 hours of embroidery. The gown had 98 yards of beautiful white satin and was encrusted with more than 1500 crystal rhinestones, a 13-foot train, and a 16-foot veil. The gown was estimated to be over $2,00,000 but it is reported that the bride paid $100,000 because of all the favorable publicity that the gown caused. Melania required 4 fitting sessions one of which lasted for four hours. The most stunning features of her wedding look was the gathering fabric of her gown and the stunning ornate Edwardian necklace that Fred Leighton jewelers borrowed to her. At their July 1999 they asked all guests to dress in black and white at the reception while they were decked out in purple.
